[/IMG] Why do you ride for your money Tell me why do you rope for short pay You ain't a'gettin' nowhere And you're loosin' your share you must have gone crazy out there * * * * * * * * She nodded at Nia, as she spoke, totally understanding what she meant about the other place being her heaven. When in the big city, from what she described, there weren’t many places that someone could get away to. So they would take them as they found them. It was an interesting thing to think about.
As Jean walked around, she ran a hand through her hair to push it from her face, since it kept falling in her eyes as she looked down at the water below her. She tried to think of something she could ask the girl, and figured that asking her why she was there would not be appropriate. As such, she was at a dead end of things for conversations. “Ever ridden a horse before?” he ventured to ask, figuring her passion was a safe place to tread for now. If not, she would try something else, like favorites.
Looking at the small silver watch on her wrist, checking to make sure they weren’t going to miss lunch, she sat back down on the bank and pulled her shoes back on. “Shall we start walking back? Lunch is soon, and we wouldn’t want to miss that, because it’s important to eat around here when you can. Work takes up most of your time and a lot of your energy, so you need it when you can.” She informed her, as she stood up, dusted off her backside, and looked to Nia with a smile.

Nia looked at her and got out of the pond. "No I never had, could you teach me sometime." she said a smile forming on her face. She really wanted to learn how to ride, it looked like so much fun, and also really cool. Not many people from the city would be able to ever say that they had ridden a horse before, and come to think of it, most people wouldn't give it a second thought. The thought trickled thew her, it made her happy that she wasn't exactly like the rest of the people in the city.
Thinking of how Jean didn't really ask her anything personal, she thought that she probably didn't want to say somethings. "You know, you can ask me any question you want to, I don't care what you ask, I want you to get to know me." she said with a slight smile. She didn't know why she wanted to tell Jean everything about her, but it was just something she wanted to do, she wanted her to know everything and anything, mostly because she wanted her to know the real and fake her.

[/IMG] Why do you ride for your money Tell me why do you rope for short pay You ain't a'gettin' nowhere And you're loosin' your share you must have gone crazy out there * * * * * * * * When the girl said that she would be interested in learning, she felt herself smile once more. She rather enjoyed when she had the opportunity to teach people how to ride. Most of the time she was only a back up instructor, and that was for little kids. Though she loved the kids, she would prefer that, if at all, to teach someone a little older. They just weren’t built for it yet. Heck she could remember the time when she wasn’t built for it either.
Though, she had her mother to help her learn then, so she was partly okay with teaching the kids now. It was like her mother was. She still idolized her mother after all. Nodding to Nia, she turned to walk a bit away from the lake.
She wondered what it was she could ask, the girl said anything, but she really wasn’t sure. “Well, what would you like me to know?” she asked her, “What are you here for I guess is a good place to start?” She asked as she adjusted her tank top.
She was waiting for Nia to get her shoes back on and follow, so they could make the trek back to the house. If they left now, that would leave Jean a little bit of time to look at Tommy, and talk with him for a bit. It wasn’t like she couldn’t do that later, but she still liked when she had the chance, any chance, to do so.
Heck, she could even see some of the babies that the farm had currently bred. She was particularly fond of a little gray speckled one, and enjoyed talking with it. The little one was always so playful. It was like a little Tomorrow’s Dream, only a different color, and breed. Though their personalities were similar. Perhaps that’s why she liked the little one so much. Who knew? Either way, she was fond of it.

Nia got her shoes on and sighed, that one was a long story. "Well, I started to hang out with my friends, and they wanted me to change, so I started to smoke and got a piercing, and a tattoo, I dyed the underneath of my hair and wore more makeup, I also started doing other drugs and partying, one day I didn't come home from my friends house, I came back the next morning and my mom flipped, then I told her all of what I did. Then she sent me here." she said sweeping her hand around them. Sighing she didn't know what she did and all as she knew is that she had nothing to lose, she should know who she is. "Lets just say that she didn't like what I did." she said with a small laugh, she really didn't know why she did all of the things that she did, she just did them.
Sighing she followed Jean back towards the house, "What else do you want to know?" she said smiling at Jean, she really didn't mind the questions, she actually liked answering them.

[/IMG] Why do you ride for your money Tell me why do you rope for short pay You ain't a'gettin' nowhere And you're loosin' your share you must have gone crazy out there * * * * * * * * Jean looked to her as she explained what had happened back in the city and she blinked. That was a lot of stuff to have done, it was insane. She would never do something like that ever, and for one person to do all of it, it was rather surprising. She almost felt bad for her. She knew better than to feel bad for her though. Clearly Nia didn’t need her pity or sympathy. So she wasn’t about to show that she felt it.
As she looked away while they walked back towards the old well, she thought about something to ask. “I really don’t know,” she said a bit flustered, thinking about it. “hmm… well… what about, how come you did those things? Did you like any of them?” she asked, curiously. It was hard to picture someone actually enjoying anything like that, but one could never be too sure. After all, people would do things like that all the time because they could never imagine themselves without that stuff.
She looked towards Nia curiously. She wasn’t sure what to ask the girl, but still wanted to know as much as she could about her. She would imagine that friends knew a lot about one another, even though she couldn’t seem to find the right questions to ask. She had always been stupid like that, always a bit out of sorts around other people. She grew up on a farm away from most other people, so she had always been awkward around them. When the other hands came to work there, she still was a bit awkward. Had it not been for Charlie, the oldest hand, a older man who was a bit rude but under all that a big sweetheart, she would have still not been talking with the other hands to this day.
They sort of broke each other out of their shells, it was quite nice really, and she respected the man greatly. Perhaps he would help her with Nia. Sure, he thought kids were annoying, but if she asked him, he might bend around for her and help her out when needed.

Nia flinched at the thought of all the stupid things she did, "I didn't like any of it, well, I like having friends because of it, but no I hated putting my self threw it, but it helped me fit in so I did it." she said feeling her hip slightly. "I got this," she said lifting her shirt up so Jean could see the black heart on her left hip. "One day, my friends decided that they where all going and they said I couldn't chill with them if I couldn't handle getting a little ink. So I gave in and got one. The same thing goes for my belly button piercing." She said lifting her shirt farther up showing the hanging skull that fell in her belly button.
"The smoking and the drugs where similar to that too, they said try it and well I did, not wanting then to think I couldn't do it, it sucked, I still hate smoking, but that's not the bad stuff I got into." she said in a tiny voice, not wanting to go much farther on that topic.
She sighed, Jean must think she is stupid, and defedently the wrong person to hang out with. She hoped that she could understand, but didn't believe it herself, she sighed and continued to follow Jean back to the farm. She looked at the ground and frowned at what she did, now that she was away from all of it, she really thought how stupid it truly was, why would she do all of those things especially the drugs, that was just plan stupid.

[/IMG] Why do you ride for your money Tell me why do you rope for short pay You ain't a'gettin' nowhere And you're loosin' your share you must have gone crazy out there * * * * * * * * It took them a bit but they arrived back at the stables once more, and, according to Jean’s watch, they had some time before lunch. Deciding that this was a good time to go see the foal, and go riding after lunch with Tommy instead, she looked to Nia and nodded. “Lunch will be in about fifteen or so minutes,” she said casually, wondering what she was going to do. “If you want, you can start unpacking, or wait to unpack till after lunch. After all, I plan on going for a ride after and it would be a good time for you to do that.”
Walking through the yard, she looked around at the call of her name and waved to her mother, who was pushing her wheelchair across the way, followed by a good majority of the chickens, her cat in her lap. She smiled at the pretty woman. She had always been so strong, and still insisted on working even though she was confined to that stupid chair. At the thought about the chair her wave and smile faltered.
She was so used to the wheelchair; she hardly thought anything of it. Besides, her mother was her mother, no matter if she could use her legs or not. However, every so often she would think about the times when her mother could walk, and life was better. Whenever thoughts like this crossed her mind, and she thought about how life wasn’t fair, it caused a pang in her chest.
Biting at her lip, trying not to show to show her emotions around her mother, having been scolded on that quite a few times in the past, she turned away from her mother as the woman wheeled away towards the house to help set up for lunch.
Jeanette needed to get her mind off of it for a moment, and walked over to the pasture where the babies and their mothers all resided. With a whistle, a grey horse, speckled with black spots, lifted its head, gave a friendly call in return before trotting up to the railing for attention.

Nia looked at Jean and nodded, she really did want to unpack and get everything set the way she liked it. Sighing she looked at Jean and nodded "Yeah that a good Idea, I think I'll do it after lunch though so you can go ride." She said looking at her, she followed her over to where the little horse was standing and she smiled at it.
She thought about how much of a pain it really must be for Jean to take care of her, and she knew that she would try to give her time for herself as much as possible. Sighing she sat on the ground and watched the horses, they looked happy, and she knew that one of her job would be taking care of them. She was happy about that, she just wished she could have came here on her own, now everyone on the farm knew she was trouble, and she hatted it. She never liked it when she wasn't liked, aka the reason she did all the shit she did, she hated to seem out of place, even if it is with people that have never talk to or seen her yet.
After some time she got up and looked at Jean, "Hey, isn't about time to head in for lunch." She said looking towards the house. She didn't know what to expect for lunch, all as she knew is that she was hungry, she had not had anything to eat since she was at the party.

[/IMG] Why do you ride for your money Tell me why do you rope for short pay You ain't a'gettin' nowhere And you're loosin' your share you must have gone crazy out there * * * * * * * * The little foal sniffed at her outstretched hand for a moment, before he shook his head and gave a dissatisfied snort. After that he proceeded to sniff at Jean’s pockets and shirt, trying to see if she had anything that he could eat and this caused her to giggle and push him away. “I have nothing for you, you little pig.” She informed him, causing him to snort once more. He decided at that point there was no point to her and turned his rump in her direction.
“Oye, you did not just do that!” she said before giving him a noogie on his back, causing him to turn and look at her curiously before kicking his heels up and trotting away from her. After reaching his mother he made a full circle to return to the fence by her and she smiled at him. “You are a silly boy.” She informed him with all fondness as she ran her hands through his soft, short mane.
When Nia called over to her that they had better get inside to eat, she blinked, looked at her watch and nodded. “Yes, sorry.” She said before giving the foal a pat good bye and turning towards the house. Leading the way inside, she showed her where the bathroom was so they could wash up before hand, before she joined everyone at the table, sitting by her mother.
Each hand was required to be at the table for every meal unless they were sick because food there was quite important. It was also the time in which the owner could catch up on all that was going on, on the property, and people could ask for help if they needed. Over all though, this was just the place everyone could talk.
As such, before the food had even been placed on the table before them, everyone was already launched into a conversation with someone else. Other than Charlie of course, who would only speak if spoken to first, figuring he was too old to join in the ‘squawking’ as he called it.
Smiling to the older man, Jean gave him a soft wave to which he nodded in return.

Nia sat down with the others awkward, not knowing any of them but Jean and her dad. She sat down and got some food and ate in silence. She ate her dinner and asked to be excused, one she was allowed, she fled to her room and sat on the bed for a second. She never like awkward situations, and that was a huge one.
Soon she got up and slowly put away her clothing, including re-folding them. That there blew a hole hour and a half, then she slowly put away the rest of her stuff. Once it was all away she moved it around and around trying to make it right, that the one thing about her, if it didn't feel right it wouldn't stay that way long.
Eventually she stopped messing around and got it how she liked it. She sighed and grabbed a book, sitting my the window for more light, she loved reading, but latly she never had time to read, it was nice.

[/IMG] Why do you ride for your money Tell me why do you rope for short pay You ain't a'gettin' nowhere And you're loosin' your share you must have gone crazy out there * * * * * * * * As Jean sat and ate, she spoke with a couple of the hands, and her mother, but she was one of the few people who spent most of the time eating versus talking. So she had finished eating not long after Nia left the table. She had been a bit concerned when the other girl had eaten fast without speaking to anyone, and left really quickly. Perhaps she was uncomfortable there? Should Jeanette be worried and go see if she was okay?
She had a feeling though, that it was simply because the blonde didn’t know anyone that she left really quickly instead of sticking around to catch up on the latest gossip. Even though she had her pinned as someone who would like to hear gossip, she figured that would come with time. So she decided to just excuse herself, go for her ride, and return to see Nia a little later. After all, she still had to unpack.
Wandering outside, she whistled for her horse, as she neared the pasture he was at, and soon Tommy came rushing over to her excitedly. She smiled at him and reached out to rub her hand over the horse’s soft muzzle. “Let’s go for a short ride, alright?” she said to him, receiving a whinny in return.
Taking that as an okay, she quickly gathered him up, took him to the stables so she could saddle him and was out in one of the empty riding rings in no time at all. Mounted on his back, sitting as erect as she could, she paused when they were in the center of the ring, and took a deep breath with a smile. It was always an amazing feeling to her, to sit upon the back of her horse, looking between his ears at the scene before them, ready to take flight. It was perfect.
Nudging him forward gently, she started him off at an extended trot, allowing them to just enjoy the ride for a while. As much as she liked to go fast, times when they would relax and just feel one another was enjoyable as well. It allowed Jean to wash all her worries and stress away, allowing her to just ride, no longer needing to be concerned about everything that lay just outside the arena.
“Heels down!” came a sharp call, bringing her out of her thoughts and whipping around to see Charlie there, leaning on the fence, looking her over, checking her riding. She couldn’t help but smile. There was no greeting from him, ever, and this was how they worked. He would coach her, and mentor her, and help her; but with riding, without asking. If she wanted anything more, she had to approach him first. This unspoken agreement began when Tommy had been born, and the older male had taken interest in her because she took such interest in the frail colt. “Just because it’s an easy ride, doesn’t mean you should slack! The poor horse doesn’t deserve that.” He called to her, causing her to laugh as she adjusted her posture and continued her ride, every so often being told to correct, or try something by Charlie.

Nia continued to read, she was happy that she could just sit down and read, she never got the chance to anymore, not with her friends wanting to hang out all the time, and she couldn't read with them, they would make fun of her if they knew she loved to read.
Being here was nice because she never had to pretend to be what she wasn't, no one knew her so it was perfect. She sighed and continued to read, loving having some peace and quiet.
